Poor performance after installing windows updates on Vista x64
The question is what are the issues when using the 64 bit OS such as Vista 64 Ultimate ( which will address up to 128 GB ram vs. An MS presenter stated to me that Vista 64 is much better ( friendlier) at running 32 bit apps than Win Pro x64. I understand that the drivers in Vista 64 are less of an issue.

Vista x86 (32 Bit) or Vista x64? If you're using Vista x64, and the 64-Bit WMP, then you may experience these sysmptoms if you only have 32-Bit codecs installed. You can check which WMP is being used by opening it, then by pressing CTRL+SHIFT+ESC to open Task Manager. Go to Process in the Task Manager. if WMPLAYER.

the only issue is that Direct3D must be emulated on Vista [no matter the sound card] and cames relying up on it lose DD5.1/7.1. They have a compatibility project that is still in the works. I have actually been using Vista. I guess that isn't as good as reading articles about Beta 2 in a magazine though.

HOW are you trying to reinstall WinXP x64? (Or do you REALLY mean xp64? Microsoft already used "xp64" to mean the version for Intel's Itanium.
